ISEES ORGANIZES TRAINER OF TRAINER WORKSHOP IN AGROECOLOGY TO BUILD THE CAPACITY OF AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION OFFICERS, FARMER LEADERS, AND CSO LEADERS IN THE AYENSUANO-SUHUM-NSAWAM ADOAGYIRI MUNICIPALITIES

A trainer of trainers capacity building workshop on agroecology has been organized by the Institute for Sustainable Energy and Environmental Solutions for 95 participants at the Sustainability Conference Hall at Beposo in Teacher Mante from the 15th to 17th of May 2024, under the auspices of the 11th Hour Food Sovereignty Fund of RSF Social Finance”, California, USA, Gower Street, UK and Bread for the World, Germany

The workshop brought together significant stakeholders including Municipal Agricultural Directors, Extension officers, NGO/CSO leaders, Traditional and Opinion Leaders, Assemblymen, Farmer Group leaders, Market Queens, etc.

Participants were trained #composting, #organic #farming #organicinsecticide, #croprotation #Agroforestry, #seedsovereignty #integratedpestmanagement, #croprotation, #organicweedicide, #Livelihood Opportunities in #agroecology, #soapmaking using #leaves from #trees such as #MORINGA, #Neem, #Mushrooms cultivation etc

The #training was organized from 15th to 17th May 2024 at the Sustainability Hub Ghana Conference room, at #TeacherMante Beposo in the Eastern Region of Ghana near #Nsawam

The program was opened by the Director of Agriculture at the Ayensuano District Mr. Clifford Asare, who admonished the participants to take the lessons seriously to be able to ensure sustainable practices in food production in the districts.

Mr. George Atta Quiainoo, director of operations and head of environment took participants through the various initiatives and programs being done at the Institute and empowered participants to adopt sustainable practices in energy, environment, and agriculture.

Mr Lovans Owusu-Takyi, the Director of the Institute and Project Director also took the participants through the project aims and objectives, the various activities to be undertaken as well as the agroecology practices and markets to be adopted.

Mr. William Larte of the Center for Indigenous Knowledge and Development (CIKOD) also took participants through the concept of agroecology, the practices, and the meaning of agroecology.

Mr. James Okpoakpajor, Director Of Okpoakpajor Youth and Development Center, took the participants through how to prepare organic insecticide, organic weedicide, agroecology livelihoods such as mushrooms production, soap, and creams, composting, etc

The workshop ended with participants posied to demonstrate the knowledge gained in practicing agroecology in their farms and communities and becoming change agents in promoting agroecology in their communities and farmer groups.
