The Sustainable Agroecology Project is a one (1) year project that seeks to strengthen agroecology practices and markets among smallholder farmer cooperatives in the Ayensuano-Suhum-Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipalities through education, research, and advocacy. The project will improve the knowledge, advocacy, and technical capacity of 300 smallholder farmers, extension officers, and women farmer groups to adopt and use agroecology, agroforestry, and sustainable land management practices to improve soil fertility, ecology, and sustainability on farms as well as increase yields, productivity, incomes, and food security in the Municipalities. It also seeks to facilitate knowledge dissemination and advocacy for agroecology in the districts and to empower grassroots agroecology movements to demonstrate practical agroecology. It further seeks to strengthen market linkages for agroecological products to increase farmers’ incomes. The activities will include a series of training workshops, tree planting on farms, soil fertility management practices, awareness creation, capacity building, and dialogue to enhance the adoption of agroecology in the selected districts.
